"Our task regarding creativity is to help children climb their own mountains as high as possible. No one can do more." Loris Malaguzzi

Creative Arts and Wellbeing Sessions for Schools

I am a highly qualified, experienced, creative, nurturing and successful teacher with over 15 years of experience working in many educational settings across the whole age range, including special schools.

I have been a class teacher for KS1, KS2, KS3 and KS4 and Director of Music.  I have worked peripatetically with music services and directed county ensembles with the county schools of music in Shropshire and Wiltshire.  I have led large scale music projects with the Wiltshire Music Centre.

I have always used music as a way in, a way to connect, a way to communicate and a tool for building self-esteem, confidence, creativity and individuality.

I now add a Post Graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play to my skills and experience to offer truly life-changing sessions for the children in your school.

One to One Therapeutic Play

I can work with children with mild to moderate issues relating to trauma, attachment, anxiety, family breakup, grief, peer problems, self esteem and self image.

Their SDQ score must be 21 or less when they begin therapy for me to remain within my therapeutic insurance.

I use music, sandtray therapy, clay and drawing.

I work in a non-directive way so the child leads and I facilitate them to discover their own solutions, inner strength and wisdom; therefore providing a lasting effect instead of a quick fix.

Sessions must be weekly (during term time) at the same time and place.

Cost - £150 per day, this includes time for parent interviews when required, interim and end reports.

4 Clients per Day

Minimum of 12 sessions per child.

Each Session is 50 minutes.

Group Wellbeing

I can work with groups of up to 12.

We focus on listening to ourselves and our bodies and listening to others without the need to question or solve.

These sessions are particularly helpful for sensitive, quiet, anxious, empathetic children.  Equally useful for children on the autistic spectrum, children who struggle with social cues and body language and those who are reactivity or have communication difficulties.

I use music, movement, clay and drawing to help children to learn how to recognise and safely release emotions.  How to identify feelings within their body, care for themselves emotionally and communicate/connect more easily and deeply with the people around them.

Cost - £50 per hour

Sessions can be one off, ongoing or a set number.
